Kelly Rowland is reportedly
joining a huge television hit, and there’s some speculation that she’ll be able
to show off her musical abilities nicely on the show.
Rowland–formerly
of Destiny’s Child–has reportedly signed
on to Empire, where she’ll play the mother of
Terrence Howard’s character, Lucious, in flashback scenes. The songstress will
join a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Chris Rock, Marisa Tomei, and
Alicia Keys this season.
The singer
and actress joins a show that has had no shortage of musical talent; Courtney
Love, Patti LaBelle, and Mary J. Blige are among the names who have shown up in
various episodes. That, coupled with the fact that Howard and co-star Taraji P.
Henson have dynamic chemistry, has led to Empire becoming Fox’s highest-rated
